Fixed-dose combination of pioglitazone and glimepiride in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus

In this paper, several blocking techniques are applied to matrices that do not have a strong blocked structure. The aim is to efficiently use vectorization with current CPUs, even for matrices without an explicit block structure on nonzero elements. Different approaches are known to find fixed or variable sized blocks of nonzero elements in a matrix. We present a new matrix format for 2D rectangular blocks of variable size, allowing fill-ins per block of explicit zero values up to a user definable threshold. We give a heuristic to detect such 2D blocks in a sparse matrix. The performance of a Sparse Matrix Vector Multiplication for chosen block formats is measured and compared. Results show that the benefit of blocking formats depend – as to be expected – on the structure of the matrix and that variable sized block formats can have advantages over fixed size formats.
The objective of the FIVIS project is to develop a bicycle simulator which is able to simulate real life bicycle ride situations as a virtual scenario within an immersive environment. A sample test bicycle is mounted on a motion platform to enable a close to reality simulation of turns and balance situations. The visual field of the bike rider is enveloped within a multi-screen visualisation environment which provides visual data relative to the motion and activity of the test bicycle. That means the bike rider has to pedal and steer the bicycle as a usual bicycle, while the motion is recorded and processed to control the simulation. Furthermore, the platform is fed with real forces and accelerations that have been logged by a mobile data acquisition system during real bicycle test drives. Thus, using a feedback system makes the movements of the platform match to the virtual environment and the reaction of the driver (e.g. steering angle, step rate).

The visual and auditory quality of computer-mediated stimuli for virtual and extended reality (VR/XR) is rapidly improving. Still, it remains challenging to provide a fully embodied sensation and awareness of objects surrounding, approaching, or touching us in a 3D environment, though it can greatly aid task performance in a 3D user interface. For example, feedback can provide warning signals for potential collisions (e.g., bumping into an obstacle while navigating) or pinpointing areas where one’s attention should be directed to (e.g., points of interest or danger). These events inform our motor behaviour and are often associated with perception mechanisms associated with our so-called peripersonal and extrapersonal space models that relate our body to object distance, direction, and contact point/impact. We will discuss these references spaces to explain the role of different cues in our motor action responses that underlie 3D interaction tasks. However, providing proximity and collision cues can be challenging. Various full-body vibration systems have been developed that stimulate body parts other than the hands, but can have limitations in their applicability and feasibility due to their cost and effort to operate, as well as hygienic considerations associated with e.g., Covid-19. Informed by results of a prior study using low-frequencies for collision feedback, in this paper we look at an unobtrusive way to provide spatial, proximal and collision cues. Specifically, we assess the potential of foot sole stimulation to provide cues about object direction and relative distance, as well as collision direction and force of impact. Results indicate that in particular vibration-based stimuli could be useful within the frame of peripersonal and extrapersonal space perception that support 3DUI tasks. Current results favor the feedback combination of continuous vibrotactor cues for proximity, and bass-shaker cues for body collision. Results show that users could rather easily judge the different cues at a reasonably high granularity. This granularity may be sufficient to support common navigation tasks in a 3DUI.
In recent years, a plethora of observations with high spectral resolution of sub-millimetre and far-infrared transitions of methylidene (CH), conducted with Herschel and SOFIA, have demonstrated this radical to be a valuable proxy for molecular hydrogen that can be used for characterising molecular gas within the interstellar medium on a Galactic scale, including the CO-dark component. We report the discovery of the 13CH isotopologue in the interstellar medium using the upGREAT receiver on board SOFIA. We have detected the three hyperfine structure components of the ≈2 THz frequency transition from its X2Π1∕2 ground-state towards the high-mass star-forming regions Sgr B2(M), G34.26+0.15, W49(N), and W51E and determined 13CH column densities. The ubiquity of molecules containing carbon in the interstellar medium has turned the determination of the ratio between the abundances of the two stable isotopes of carbon, 12C/13C, into a cornerstone for Galactic chemical evolution studies. Whilst displaying a rising gradient with galactocentric distance, this ratio, when measured using observations of different molecules (CO, H2CO, and others), shows systematic variations depending on the tracer used. These observed inconsistencies may arise from optical depth effects, chemical fractionation, or isotope-selective photo-dissociation. Formed from C+ either through UV-driven or turbulence-driven chemistry, CH reflects the fractionation of C+, and does not show any significant fractionation effects, unlike other molecules that were previously used to determine the 12C/13C isotopic ratio. This makes it an ideal tracer for the 12C/13C ratio throughout the Galaxy. By comparing the derived column densities of 13CH with previously obtained SOFIA data of the corresponding transitions of the main isotopologue 12CH, we therefore derive 12C/13C isotopic ratios toward Sgr B2(M), G34.26+0.15, W49(N) and W51E. Adding our values derived from 12∕13CH to previous calculations of the Galactic isotopic gradient, we derive a revised value of 12C/13C = 5.87(0.45)RGC + 13.25(2.94).
During the dawn of chemistry when the temperature of the young Universe had fallen below ∼4000 K, the ions of the light elements produced in Big Bang nucleosynthesis recombined in reverse order of their ionization potential. With its higher ionization potentials, He++ (54.5 eV) and He+ (24.6 eV) combined first with free electrons to form the first neutral atom, prior to the recombination of hydrogen (13.6 eV). At that time, in this metal-free and low-density environment, neutral helium atoms formed the Universe's first molecular bond in the helium hydride ion HeH+, by radiative association with protons (He + H+ → HeH+ + hν). As recombination progressed, the destruction of HeH+ (HeH+ + H → He + H+2) created a first path to the formation of molecular hydrogen, marking the beginning of the Molecular Age. Despite its unquestioned importance for the evolution of the early Universe, the HeH+ molecule has so far escaped unequivocal detection in interstellar space. In the laboratory, the ion was discovered as long ago as 1925, but only in the late seventies was the possibility that HeH+ might exist in local astrophysical plasmas discussed. In particular, the conditions in planetary nebulae were shown to be suitable for the production of potentially detectable HeH+ column densities: the hard radiation field from the central hot white dwarf creates overlapping Strömgren spheres, where HeH+ is predicted to form, primarily by radiative association of He+ and H. With the GREAT spectrometer onboard SOFIA, the HeH+ rotational ground-state transition at λ149.1 μm is now accessible. We report here its detection towards the planetary nebula NGC7027.
Force field (FF) based molecular modeling is an often used method to investigate and study structural and dynamic properties of (bio-)chemical substances and systems. When such a system is modeled or refined, the force field parameters need to be adjusted. This force field parameter optimization can be a tedious task and is always a trade-off in terms of errors regarding the targeted properties. To better control the balance of various properties’ errors, in this study we introduce weighting factors for the optimization objectives. Different weighting strategies are compared to fine-tune the balance between bulk-phase density and relative conformational energies (RCE), using n-octane as a representative system. Additionally, a non-linear projection of the individual property-specific parts of the optimized loss function is deployed to further improve the balance between them. The results show that the overall error is reduced. One interesting outcome is a large variety in the resulting optimized force field parameters (FFParams) and corresponding errors, suggesting that the optimization landscape is multi-modal and very dependent on the weighting factor setup. We conclude that adjusting the weighting factors can be a very important feature to lower the overall error in the FF optimization procedure, giving researchers the possibility to fine-tune their FFs.
Adapting plans to changes in the environment by finding alternatives and taking advantage of opportunities is a common human behavior. The need for such behavior is often rooted in the uncertainty produced by our incomplete knowledge of the environment. While several existing planning approaches deal with such issues, artificial agents still lack the robustness that humans display in accomplishing their tasks. In this work, we address this brittleness by combining Hierarchical Task Network planning, Description Logics, and the notions of affordances and conceptual similarity. The approach allows a domestic service robot to find ways to get a job done by making substitutions. We show how knowledge is modeled, how the reasoning process is used to create a constrained planning problem, and how the system handles cases where plan generation fails due to missing/unavailable objects. The results of the evaluation for two tasks in a domestic service domain show the viability of the approach in finding and making the appropriate goal transformations.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Filtervorrichtung zur Anreicherung gasförmiger und/oder partikelgebundener Stoffe. Erfindungsgemäß weist Filtervorrichtung eine wenigstens abschnittsweise luftdurchlässige Umhüllung (1, 3) und ein innerhalb der Umhüllung (1, 3) vorgesehenen Adsorbens (2) zur Anreicherung gasförmiger und/oder partikelgebundener Stoffe aus durch die Umhüllung (1, 3) hindurchgetretener Luft auf, zur nachfolgenden Überprüfung mittels eines lebenden olfaktorischen Detektors und/oder eines thermodesorptionsgekoppelten Analysegeräts auf Geruchsstoffe und/oder Zielanalyten, wobei ein Teil der Umhüllung (1, 3) einen in das Adsorbens (2) hineinführend, an nur einer Seite offenen Kanal (7) ausbildet, an dem offenen Ende des Kanals (7) eine Anschlusseinrichtung (8) zum Anschluss an ein Ansaugsystem angeordnet ist und die Umhüllung (1, 3) und das Adsorbens an Luft bis wenigstens 400 °C thermostabil sind. Auf diese Weise wird eine einfache und verlässliche Möglichkeit bereitgestellt, mit einer gemeinsamen Filtervorrichtung (9) sowohl eine Überprüfung mittels eines lebenden olfaktorischen Detektors sowie nachfolgend eine Überprüfung mittels eines thermodesorptionsgekoppelten Analysegeräts auf Geruchsstoffe und/oder Zielanalyten durchführen zu können.
